Victorian Fashion

With a Queen in power, fashion became extremely popular during the Victorian era. Victorian clothes were certainly a symbol of who you were, what you did for a living and how much money you earned. Fashion accessories like bonnets, parasols, fans or brooches for ladies and walking sticks or top hats for gentlemen became very popular. This obviously influenced writers of the time like Oscar Wilde, whose obsession with aesthetics, beauty and perfection was very well known among London society. No doubt this marked his works to a great extent.

Students from 4ºB have read “The Picture of Dorian Gray” during this first term and have carried out several tasks to try to understand the period in which this novel was written, because it’s impossible to understand works without studying them in context.

They were asked to create an online leaflet or shoot a video in which they had to advertise a Victorian fashion shop. Here is their fantastic work:
